Three-quarters of people in the UK say they wish they could extend their favorite moments, according to a new study.
Bank holidays, vacations or even a good book are some of the things Britons would like to see last longer.
A study of 2,000 adults also found that sun worshipers want vacations and summer in general to be extended, while dreaded Mondays want the weekend to be longer.
Another in four would like romantic in-bedroom events to last for hours.
A quarter also thought their birthday was too early, while 22% would prefer an ice cream that is not devoured in a few minutes.
Savor moments
Other things Brits would love to savor include a first kiss, the ‘newborn’ baby stage, time with the kids – and Line of Duty.
Alice Thorpe of the recently rebranded Fox’s Glaciers, who commissioned the research as part of her Satisfyingly Long Lasting campaign, said: “Research has shown that there are so many moments in life that we would like to last so much longer. .
“Sadly, a lot of them are beyond our control, however, there is something people can do to really savor the times they happen.
“It seems a lot of people would just like to take that leap to be ‘more present’ in such cases.”
Live in the moment
Six in 10 people also think that young people have a harder time living in the present moment than the older generation.
And looking back, 55 percent long for their own youth, hoping the years could have gone slower.
Surprisingly, one in five adults also wished they could maintain their single status a little longer before settling down.
While one in eight wants their sweet treat to last longer according to research via OnePoll.
It has also emerged that a quarter of Britons watch many special moments via a phone, rather than taking the opportunity.
And 75% thought key moments from their past went by too quickly now that they were older looking back.
Yet 85% believe that one of the keys to happiness in life is learning to savor the moment.
Moments are flashing
Respondents also said they were also guilty of missing moments often – estimating that four moments passed each week.
More than a third try to be more grateful in their everyday life, and 26% get up early to make the most of the day ahead.
And the study found that the age of 31 is the time when Brits learn to appreciate a special moment rather than let it pass – however, 57% want to learn to appreciate a moment more.
Psychologist Dr Becky Spelman, speaking on behalf of Fox, added: “It is clear that Brits are realizing that it is too easy to let everyday pleasurable moments pass like enjoying a sweet treat. too fast.
“Research shows that savoring special moments helps you feel happier and more positive, and the good news is that savoring moments is a skill you can learn.
“The next time you find yourself in a moment that you would like to remember, stop and breathe. Engage all of your senses and notice what you can see, hear, smell, smell and taste.
“Take a mental photo to look back. Acknowledge the positive emotions you are experiencing, express your gratitude to them, and try to remember what made you feel this way. Talking to someone else about the experience can make you feel even better.
“Soon you will be making the most of every satisfying and lasting moment that can help you feel happier in the short and long term.”
