The force released this CCTV image of heavy machinery, taken shortly before it crashed into the car on Greenways, Ovingdean, around 7 p.m. on May 9.
Sussex Police believe a man was in the cab of the forklift at the time.
A spokesperson said: “Investigations are ongoing and officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed the damage done.
“They would especially love to hear from anyone who could have captured relevant dash camera footage of the region at that time.
“Anyone with information is urged to contact the police online or by calling 101 quoting serial number 1100 from 05/09.”
