Spain’s Balearic Islands, Malta, Madeira and some Caribbean islands – including Barbados – have been added to the green list for trips to England, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said.

The Balearic Islands are made up of Ibiza, Menorca, Mallorca and Formentera.

The move means those heading to some popular vacation hot spots won’t have to self-quarantine when they return after the latest traffic light system overhaul.

The changes come into effect on Wednesday June 30 at 4 a.m.

The traffic light rules mean:

Green list: Those returning from green places are not required to self-isolate, but they must take one after arrival coronavirus test.

Amber list: People arriving in the UK from Amber List countries must take two post-arrival tests on day 2 and day 8 after arrival and self-isolate at home for 10 days, although they may reduce this time if they pass an additional negative test on day five. The government does not recommend that people go to Amber List countries unless it is essential.

Red List: Only UK and Irish nationals are allowed into the UK from Red List countries and quarantine in a government approved hotel is mandatory.

Other countries have been added to the red list. These include Haiti and Tunisia.

This is the second revision of the government’s travel lists since the traffic light system came into effect on May 17.

It comes after the Prime Minister postponed the easing of domestic restrictions in the UK for four weeks until July 19 earlier this month due to the increase in cases of the Delta variant.
