The mother of a teenage girl who died from the “poor care and treatment” she received at a hospital in Dudley says she is “still angry” despite the confidence acknowledging her guilt.
The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust admitted two breaches of the Health and Human Services Act 2008 during a hearing in city district court on Friday.
The charges arose out of a Care Quality Commission (CQC) investigation into the care provided by the trust prior to the deaths of mother of six Natalie Billingham and teenage Kaysie-Jane Robinson (formerly known as Kaysie -Jane Bland).
Dudley Group Trust attorney Paul Spencer said the trust accepted that Kaysie-Jane’s “poor care and treatment” caused her death.
But Mr Spencer added that the organization’s guilty plea to Natalie Billingham was entered on the grounds that she did not accept that her failings resulted in her death.
Speaking after the hearing, Kaysie-Jane’s mother Jane Robinson told Sky News she was happy with the outcome, but was still angry.
“I am angry that the NHS put me through this for the past three years before finally admitting he was at fault,” she said.
“They put me through so much stress and anxiety at a time when I was crying for my daughter.
“Kaysie-Jane was an angel who meant everything to me. So, yeah, I’m still angry.”
Charges admitted by the trust indicated that it failed to provide treatment in a safe manner, resulting in damage, in February and March 2018.
In a statement released earlier this year, the CQC said it has taken legal action following two specific incidents in which patients died at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.
At a previous hearing, CQC attorney Ian Bridge said the charges involved clinical care for Ms Billingham, 33, before her death, and Kaysie-Jane, who was 14 when she died. is dead.
He told the court that the two patients had been treated for sepsis.
