No new deaths from Covid-19 in Somerset, but numbers show cases continue to rise Bath City News

Another person with Covid-19 has died in Somerset as more than 600 new cases of the virus have been recorded in the region.

There were 637 positive tests in the last 24-hour recording period, according to statistics from Public Health England released today (Thursday August 26).

This is an increase of 30 cases from yesterday’s figures for Somerset and the UK has recorded 38,281 positive cases overall.

North Somerset reported the largest increase in cases in the past 24 hours, with 136, followed by South Somerset with 117.

This brings the total number of cases in the Somerset region to 66,393 since the start of the pandemic.

The number of positive test results in each area since the start of the pandemic is recorded below, with the new positive test results in parentheses.

The number of deaths recorded in each neighborhood in Somerset since the start of the pandemic is as follows:

Bath and North East Somerset: 232 (-) Mendip: 166 (-) North Somerset: 322 (-) Sedgemoor: 169 (-) Somerset West and Taunton: 197 (-) South Somerset: 170 (-)

Despite a new death in Bath and northeast Somerset yesterday, no new deaths were recorded today, leaving the region’s total since the start of the pandemic at 232.

Across the country, another 38,281 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases were reported in the UK on Thursday, bringing the UK total to 6,628,709.

The government said 140 more people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19, bringing the UK total to 132,143.
