Harry Potter 20th Anniversary Tram Tour: Where You Can See It UK News

In honor of the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Releasing in UK cinemas, the iconic Platform 9 ¾ Trolley will tour UK train stations.

The travel trolley will allow fans to recreate Harry Potter’s first journey on the 9 ¾ platform that saw him pass through a magical brick wall in King’s Cross station in London, before taking the 11am train for Hogwarts.

Every year, more than two million people visit the tram which is usually found in the concourse of King’s Cross station, next to the Harry Potter shop on platform 9 ¾, but soon more and more cities in the UK- Uni will also be able to experience the magic.

A replica of the cart will tour four stations in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales in October to celebrate the anniversary. Muggles, witches and wizards will have the opportunity to take pictures of themselves as if to run through the wall, to reach Platform 9 ¾, the starting point of the Hogwarts Express.

  • Edinburgh Waverley Station – October 16-18
  • Birmingham New Street Station – October 23-25
  • Cardiff Central Station – October 26-28
  • Belfast Lanyon Place Station – October 29-31

On the launch day of each station, fans will be invited to witness the cart reveal and will be encouraged to snap photos in their best wizarding world-inspired outfits.

Stuart Kirkwood, Group Real Estate Director, Network Rail, said: “The Platform 9 ¾ tram at King’s Cross Station is a fantastic attraction that hosts huge queues of Harry Potter fans every day.

“Edinburgh Waverley and Birmingham New Street are stations operated by Network Rail and it was great taking this fan favorite to places outside of London to celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary. We are extremely happy to add this touch of magic to these stations. ”

The tram tour will be a nod to fans for their love and support over the past two decades, helping them capture themselves by re-enacting the iconic moment from the first film.

The official 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone will be celebrated on November 16, 2021.
