At a meeting of the Police Public Accountability Board and Crime Commissioners on September 6, Deputy Chief Constable David Hartley provided an update on the effects of the pandemic on force.
ACC Hartley said; “We are now in a period of stability”, adding that the challenge facing the force is “very much the resumption of demand as usual, which is slightly high” as the communities “are making up lost ground”.
ACC Hartley added that there could be an “inevitable” spike in Covid-19 cases as schools and universities return this month, but the force is in “very good organizational health” and “fit. to take up this challenge ”.
