Four men jailed for stabbing in east Hertfordshire UK News

A North Finchley man has been jailed for his role in an attack which saw a man stabbed more than 20 times.

The 29-year-old victim was repeatedly attacked in a Budgens car park in Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire around 5.15pm on September 11 last year.

Hertfordshire Police said the man was in his car when he approached a group of men who began attacking him with a shovel, wooden bat and screwdriver before fleeing the area in two vehicles.

Police said he received more than stab wounds after being initially treated by bystanders. He was taken to hospital by paramedics where his injuries were found not to be life threatening.

Four suspects were tracked down by police to the M25 motorway shortly afterwards and they were arrested and arrested between Junctions 22 and 23 near South Mimms.

All of the men then appeared in court where they pleaded guilty to a series of offences. They appeared at St Albans Crown Court on March 11 for sentencing.

Nakaj Durim, 27, of High Road in North Finchley, was sentenced to 14 months, having previously pleaded guilty to brawling and possession of an offensive weapon.

Xhevahir Axhami, 29, of Torriano Avenue in Kentish Town, was jailed for a year after previously pleading guilty to fighting.

Gjelbrim Murtati, 27, of Springfield Road in Windsor, Berkshire, and Vigan Murtati, 23, of Station Road in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, were jailed for four years and three years and nine months respectively after both pleading guilty to section 18 of GBH and possession. of an offensive weapon.

After the sentencing, Detective Constable Clare Halfpenny, who led the investigation, said: ‘This was a sickening attack carried out in broad daylight. Fortunately, despite more than 20 stab wounds, the victim n didn’t change his life.

“I would like to thank members of the public who witnessed the scene. I’m glad these dangerous men are now off our streets.”
