Painters and decorators looking for a new job could find themselves with a one-of-a-kind gig, as Buckingham Palace is hiring.

Yes, Buckingham Palace is hiring a painter and decorator to keep the palace spotless.

According to the to-do list, you’ll “add the decorative finishes, so people will enjoy them for years to come.”

The role pays between £28,000 and £30,000 depending on experience and will see you working a 40 hour week.

The position requires a C&G Level 3 or equivalent in Painting and Decorating, or Heritage Skills – Decorative Professions, and previous experience is a must.

“A passion for historic buildings is a must,” the list says, as you’ll encounter challenges common to historic buildings.

The description reads: “Covering a number of buildings across London estates, you will carry out inspections and identify rooms that need your attention, before ensuring they are expertly refurbished and fit for purpose.

“Working in such unique historical environments means you will have the opportunity to extend your existing skills. You will regularly handle specialist wall coverings, sign writing and use specialist paint finishes, such as marbling and gilding.

“Playing a vital role on the property team, you will also help with any day-to-day maintenance issues that arise and participate in prep work for state, ceremonial or official functions.

“In everything you do, you aim for the highest standards. After all, the results of your hard work will be seen by thousands of people.
