Roman Abramovich and Ukraine negotiators suffer symptoms of suspected poisoning UK News

At least two senior members of the Ukrainian delegation and the Russian oligarch developed symptoms including red eyes and peeling skin on his face and hands, sources said.

Abramovich, the former owner of Chelsea football club, was sanctioned by the British government following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

He accepted a request from Ukraine to help negotiate an end to the war just days after it began.

It is reported that the alleged poisoning happened after a meeting in Kyiv in early March.

The Kremlin said last week it was involved in early peace talks, but now the process is taking place between the two countries’ negotiating teams.

Investigative website Bellingcat tweeted a thread about the incident: “Bellingcat can confirm that three members of the delegation attending the Ukraine-Russia peace talks on the night of March 3-4, 2022 have exhibited symptoms consistent with chemical weapons poisoning.

“One of the victims was Russian entrepreneur Roman Abramovich.”

“Three members of the negotiation team retired to an apartment in kyiv later that night and experienced the first symptoms – including inflammation of the eyes and skin and piercing pain in the eyes – later in the day. night. Symptoms only subsided in the morning.”
