More than ever, people are considering the location of their next property, and with global warming, searches for beachfront properties have increased by 160%.

The list of top beachfront properties was commissioned by Showerstoyou.co.uk and awarded points based on factors such as average property price, average Airbnb price, weather and quality of the air.

It also took into consideration the number of blue flag beaches, the annual number of visitors, the annual number of rainy days, the hours of sunshine, the days of freezing air, the temperature, as well as the speed average monthly wind.

Margate takes the crown as the best UK town for a beachfront property with a total of 537 points out of a possible 800.

Weston-super-Mare scored a total of 394 from 800.

The current average property value in the seaside town stands at £255,594, according to Zoopla.

This represents an increase of over £24,000 from a year ago.

Rightmove property data expert Tim Bannister said curious searches online have turned into genuine interest and offers places.

He described how the pandemic’s changes to working life, as people can work from home and travel less often, have been a big driver of this trend.

He said: “Some shoppers are now more willing to travel around a country several times a week, and others are preparing for social distancing to be here for a while longer, and are therefore attracted to places with more outdoor space.”
