EMERGENCY services were called after a ‘fairground ride’ caught fire on a main road.
Police and firefighters are currently at the scene on the A272 west of Cowfold.
The road is currently open, but only one lane is unused.
The West Sussex highways are also present.
An AA traffic update said: ‘Traffic partially blocked and slow due to salvage work and a vehicle fire on the A272 Brownings Hill in both directions between Thornden and Burnthouse Lane.
“There is a carousel on fire which has melted the roadway. The road has been reduced to one lane.
