Minesweeper called to Eastbourne after reporting ‘unexploded grenade’ Brighton News

A POLICE cordon is being pulled down after a bomb squad was called to a report of a ‘suspected unexploded grenade’ in a town centre.

Police were called to a garden in Langney Road in Eastbourne at 1.20pm this afternoon and advised local residents to stay clear of the area as officers assessed the situation.

Footage from the scene showed several police and vehicles along the road facing the incident.

An explosive ordnance disposal team attended and determined that the grenade was not live.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that residents can now return to the area.
