An academic has claimed that most Britons who voted ‘Leave’ in 2016 now believe Brexit was a mistake.
Chris Gray, Emeritus Professor of Organizational Studies at Royal Holloway, pointed out that a “clear majority” of Brexit voters (57%) believed that the UK’s withdrawal from the EU “has increased the cost of life”.
Writing in his ‘Brexit and Beyond’ blog, he added: ‘This happened at a time when, in England at least, few national politicians were openly critical of Brexit and media coverage of it was quite discrete.”
Professor Gray suggested that if there were more media spotlight on Brexit, many more voters would ‘leave’ regret their position in the referendum than now.
