Transport to London: timetable changes for the bank holiday weekend UK News

Transport for London announced a series of changes to London Underground and Underground services over the weekend.

Here are the underground line closures that will be in place:

Bakerloo Line

Saturday May 1 and Sunday May 2

No service between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone

Replacement rail bus services will operate.

Monday May 3

No service between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone until noon

Replacement rail bus services will operate. On Monday mornings, please use the London Overground services between Willesden Junction and Queen’s Park / Euston to travel to central London.

District line

Saturday May 1, Sunday May 2 and Monday May 3

No service between Tower Hill and West Ham

Use alternative, local or replacement metro services.

Replacement rail buses will operate between Tower Hill and Barking via Canning Town.

Hammersmith & City Line

Saturday May 1, Sunday May 2 and Monday May 3

No service down the line

Use alternative, local or replacement metro services. Replacement rail buses will operate between Tower Hill and Barking via Canning Town.

Piccadilly Line

Until spring 2022

Trains will not stop in South Kensington

The District and Circle lines will stop and the station will remain open. Find out more information and travel tips.

North line

Saturday May 1, Sunday May 2 and Monday May 3

No service between Moorgate and Kennington

Use alternative metro services and local bus routes.

London Overground

Saturday May 1 and Sunday May 2

No service between Watford Junction and Euston

Use alternative metro services or local bus routes. Replacement rail bus services will operate.

Saturday May 1, Sunday May 2 and Monday May 3

No service between Romford and Upminster

Use local bus lines 165, 248 or 370.

No service between Highbury & Islington and Shadwell and between Surrey Quays and New Cross

Use alternative London Overground services and local bus routes between Highbury & Islington and Dalston Kingsland. Alternative rail bus services will operate between Dalston Kingsland / Junction and Shadwell. For New Cross, use the London Overground services to New Cross Gate, then walk or use the local bus lines.

Monday May 3

No service between Watford Junction and Willesden Junction until noon

Use alternative metro services or local bus routes. Replacement rail bus services will operate.

Tuesday May 4, Wednesday May 5 and Thursday May 6

No service between Hackney Downs and Chingford after 10:45 p.m.

Use alternative tube services. Replacement rail bus services will operate.

DLR

Saturday May 1, Sunday May 2 and Monday May 3

No service between Poplar and Beckton

Alternative rail bus services will operate between Canary Wharf and Beckton.

TfL rail

Sunday May 2

Reduced service between Paddington and Hayes & Harlington

Trains will not stop at Acton Main Line, West Ealing and Hanwell.

Saturday May 1, Sunday May 2 and Monday May 3

No service between Liverpool Street and Shenfield

Tickets will be accepted on bus line 25 between Stratford and Ilford. Replacement rail buses will operate.

Buses and roads

Saturday May 1

Protest in central London

From noon on Saturday May 1, demonstrations will take place in central London. Protesters are expected to form, which may impact road access. Delays are to be expected. Guests are advised to use public transport whenever possible.

Retro Car Rally at Chelsea Embankment

On Saturday May 1 there will be a retro car rally at Chelsea Embankment from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be around 50 vehicles present.

Until May 22

Kingston Closures

There will be a series of directional closures overnight on the A3 between the Hook Underpass and the Kingston Bypass. The work will take place Monday to Friday between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., with all restrictions removed during the day. This is while we perform essential maintenance. Detour routes will be clearly signposted, but you are advised to plan ahead and use alternative routes when possible. For the latest information on how the roads work in your area, check before you go.

Santander cycles

The following docking stations will be out of service this weekend:

  • Abingdon Green, Westminster
  • Prince Albert Road, Regent’s Park
  • Ram Street, Wandsworth
  • Rossmore Road, Marylebone
  • Seville Street, Knightsbridge
